John Moreland

John Moreland is an American singer-songwriter from Tulsa, Oklahoma, born in Longview, Texas, and raised in Tulsa from around age ten. Before finding his voice as a solo artist, he fronted local punk and hardcore bands in his teenage years, but eventually gravitated toward the songwriting traditions of artists like Creedence Clearwater Revival, Tom Petty, and Neil Young, with Steve Earle's protest ballad «Rich Man's War» serving as a pivotal moment that redirected his musical path.

Moreland's sound is rooted in a raw, plainspoken strain of Americana and country-folk, marked by his weathered baritone voice and unflinchingly confessional lyrics about heartbreak, faith, doubt, and small-town life.
