John Michael Montgomery

John Michael Montgomery, born January 20, 1965, in Danville, Kentucky, is an American country singer who rose to prominence in the early 1990s as part of the genre's commercial boom. Son of musician Harold Montgomery and brother of Eddie Montgomery of the duo Montgomery Gentry, he grew up steeped in performing traditions before launching a solo career defined by a smooth, emotive baritone.

Montgomery became one of the decade's most consistent country hitmakers, scoring number-one singles including «I Love the Way You Love Me», «I Swear», «Be My Baby Tonight», and «I Can Love You Like That». His biggest crossover success came with «I Swear», a ballad that also became a pop and R&B hit for the group All-4-One, illustrating the reach of his songwriting and vocal style beyond traditional country audiences.
