Jamil

Jamil Sapio, known simply as Jamil, is an Italian rapper and videomaker of Iranian descent from Verona. He debuted in 2007 under the alias Jamsette, and two years later released the mixtape «Green Street» alongside fellow rapper Mani, featuring guest appearances from Dargen D'Amico and Guè Pequeno and production from Don Joe and Deleterio — a project whose origins were controversially tied to a real police investigation into hashish and marijuana dealing, dubbed «Operazione Green Street».

He later joined the Milanese collective Voodoo Smokers Familia and helped form its offshoot, Voodoo C.O.D., aligning himself with rapper Vacca. His first official album, «Il Nirvana», arrived in 2014, followed in 2015 by the collaborative record «Del Padre Del Figlio» with Vacca. In 2016 he released «Black Book 2», propelled by the single «Scarpe Da Pusher», and 2017 saw him embroiled in a high-profile diss exchange with Noyz Narcos, reflected in tracks like «Noyz Diss». In 2018 he founded the label and collective Baida Army, through which he independently released his second solo album, «Most Hated».

Jamil's sound draws on gritty Italian street rap, blending trap-influenced production with pointed, confrontational lyricism, as heard in tracks such as «Mike Tyson», «No Racism», «Come Me», «Trap Baida» and «Va Beh» — establishing him as a persistent, combative voice within Italy's underground rap scene.
