Jack The Smoker

Jack The Smoker is the stage name of Giacomo Romano, an Italian rapper, producer and sound engineer from Milan who has been active in the country's underground hip-hop scene since the early 2000s. Alongside producer MACE, he was a key figure in the collective Spregiudicati and formed the duo La Crème, whose 2003 album is regarded as an important marker in the generational shift of Italian rap.

Over the following years he built a reputation both as a solo artist and behind the boards, producing for other rappers while releasing his own projects, including several mixtapes and full-length albums. His sound blends dense, atmospheric beats with a technical, often introspective rap delivery, drawing on classic boom-bap foundations while incorporating more modern R&B-inflected textures, as heard on tracks like «Nuvole» and «Jetlag».

In the 2010s he joined the Machete label and collective, further cementing his place in the Milanese rap scene and continuing to release music that balances street-level storytelling with polished production values. Songs such as «Mister» and «Grazie a me» reflect his continued evolution as both a lyricist and a beatmaker within Italian hip-hop.
