J-Kwon

J-Kwon, born Jerrell C. Jones on March 28, 1986, is an American rapper from St. Louis, Missouri. He rose to national prominence in 2004 with his debut single «Tipsy», a breakout club anthem that reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and helped push his debut album, «Hood Hop», to the same position on the Billboard 200.

«Tipsy» became one of the defining party-rap hits of the mid-2000s, contributing to St. Louis’s growing visibility on the national hip-hop map alongside acts like Nelly, and its call-and-response hook and countdown structure made it a staple of clubs and radio well beyond its chart run. The song’s crossover success also brought J-Kwon into film, as he recorded «Get XXX’d» for the 2005 movie xXx: State of the Union.

J-Kwon continued to build on the Hood Hop brand with «Hood Hop 2» in 2008, which included the single «Boo Boo», followed by «Hood Hop 2.5» the next year. After a period away from releasing music, he returned with a self-titled fourth album in 2010. His catalog, including tracks like «Pushing The Odds», «Like Dis», and «You & Me», reflects the early-2000s St. Louis rap sound, characterized by energetic, hook-driven production aimed squarely at clubs and mainstream radio.
