j-hope

j-hope, born Jung Hoseok on February 18, 1994, in Gwangju, South Korea, is a rapper, dancer, singer, songwriter and producer best known as a member of the global K-pop group BTS. Before joining Big Hit Entertainment as a trainee, he was already an accomplished dancer, having competed with the underground street dance crew Neuron and won a national dance competition. Within BTS he became known as the group's main dancer and one of its rappers, as well as its emotional anchor thanks to his upbeat, positive energy.

As a solo artist, j-hope built a distinct identity rooted in energetic, groove-heavy hip hop, blending trap, funk and pop influences with sharp choreography. His 2018 mixtape Hope World introduced him as a serious solo force, and he went on to release the full-length album Jack In The Box, exploring darker, more introspective themes, followed by the more polished pop-rap of Hope on the Street and later solo albums that leaned into R&B and dance textures.

Beyond BTS, j-hope has collaborated with artists including Becky G on «Chicken Noodle Soup» and has performed at major festivals as a solo headliner, becoming one of the highest-charting Korean solo acts internationally. His work consistently balances technical dance and rap skill with an accessible, feel-good sensibility that has made him one of the most recognizable ambassadors of K-pop culture worldwide.
