iLoveMakonnen, born Makonnen Kamali Sheran on April 12, 1989, is an American rapper and singer from South Los Angeles who rose to prominence through the Atlanta scene. Before making music himself, he ran a blog interviewing artists like Lil B and Soulja Boy, while also releasing early tracks on MySpace, drawing on musical influence from his opera-singer grandmother. In Atlanta he connected with producer Mike WiLL Made-It, who introduced him to key collaborators Metro Boomin and Sonny Digital.

His breakthrough came with «Club Goin' Up on a Tuesday», produced by Metro Boomin and Sonny Digital, which caught Drake's attention and was remixed as «Tuesday» — a hit that led to Makonnen signing with Drake's OVO Sound label. His music blends rap, pop, R&B and rock influences, marked by an off-kilter, melodic delivery and idiosyncratic hooks that stood apart from mainstream Atlanta trap at the time, on tracks like «I Don't Sell Molly No More» and «No Ma'am».

He parted ways with OVO Sound in 2016 before releasing a full album under the label, continuing to release music independently afterward. iLoveMakonnen remains known as a distinctive, boundary-pushing voice whose brief but influential OVO tenure helped shape the sound of mid-2010s Atlanta hip-hop.
