Iggy Azalea is an Australian rapper and songwriter, born Amethyst Amelia Kelly in 1990 in Mullumbimby, New South Wales. At sixteen she left Australia for the United States, moving through Miami, Houston and Atlanta before settling in Los Angeles, absorbing Southern hip-hop cadences along the way. She built an early following through self-released YouTube videos and the 2011 mixtape «Ignorant Art», then broke into the mainstream with her XXL Freshman nod, the first for a non-American female rapper.

Her sound blends brash, hooky rap verses with pop and electronic production, often built around confident, sing-song flows rather than dense lyricism. She became a global star with «Fancy», featuring Charli XCX, which topped charts worldwide and was followed by hits like «Black Widow» with Rita Ora and «Work».
