Iamsu!

Iamsu! (Sudan Ameer Williams) is an American rapper, songwriter and record producer from the Bay Area, California, and one of the central figures behind the region's mid-2010s hip-hop resurgence. He is the leader of the HBK Gang (Heart Break Gang) collective and a member of the production duo The Invasion, credits that place him on both sides of the mic and the mixing board.

As a producer, Iamsu! helped shape the sound of a wave of Bay Area-influenced rap hits, contributing to Sage the Gemini's «Gas Pedal», E-40's «Function» and LoveRance's «UP!», tracks that carried the region's bouncy, minor-key, hyphy-adjacent production into the mainstream. His own catalog, including singles like «By My Side», «Famous» and the DeJ Loaf-featuring «Only That Real», leans on the same laid-back, melodic trap-influenced beats paired with his conversational, hook-driven flow. «Only That Real» served as the lead single from his 2014 debut studio album, Sincerely Yours.

Beyond his solo work, Iamsu! has built a reputation as a reliable collaborator and hitmaker, producing for and featuring alongside artists such as Tinashe, Kehlani, Wiz Khalifa, 2 Chainz, DJ Mustard, G-Eazy and Casey Veggies, alongside his HBK Gang crewmates. That combination of local scene leadership and mainstream production credits has made him one of the more influential architects of contemporary West Coast rap.
