About the artist
Hunnid-P, born Emmanuel Armoogam, is an American rapper, songwriter and record producer best known for his contributions to the Sonic the Hedgehog video game series. He came up as a protege of manager and music consultant Steve Lobel, previously known for his work with Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, and it was through Lobel that Sega's label Wave Master Records recruited him to write and record vocal tracks for Sonic Adventure 2, reportedly completing the work in a single intense day in Japan.
His most recognized contribution is performing the vocals for Knuckles the Echidna's theme, along with additional stage themes on the game, which introduced a distinctive rap-rock hybrid sound into Sonic's soundtrack and became beloved by fans of the series' music. Songs like «A Ghost's Pumpkin Soup ...for Pumpkin Hill», «Kick the Rock! ...for Wild Canyon», «Dive into the Mellow ...for Aquatic Mine» and «Space Trip Steps ...for Meteor Herd» reflect this era of Sonic-adjacent hip-hop that blended playful lyricism with video game energy.
Over the years Hunnid-P has periodically teased new Sonic-related work, including claims around 2012 of working on a new game, which he later clarified in a 2016 interview was intended to draw fan attention rather than describe an actual project. He has expressed enthusiasm about performing a live Sonic Adventure 2 concert if approached by a convention, underscoring his lasting connection to the franchise's fandom.
