Hodgy

Hodgy, born Gerard Damien Long in 1990, is an American rapper and producer from Los Angeles who rose to prominence as one of the founding members of the Odd Future collective. Performing under the name Hodgy Beats in the group's early years, he was among the first to establish the raw, DIY aesthetic that defined Odd Future's sound in the late 2000s, releasing his own solo tape, «The Dena Tape», before the collective's wider breakthrough.

Within Odd Future, Hodgy formed the duo MellowHype together with fellow member Left Brain, releasing a string of gritty, bass-heavy projects that stood apart from the more melodic work of some of his labelmates. He also joined forces with Left Brain and Domo Genesis as MellowHigh, expanding his catalogue of collaborative, weed-and-street-life-themed hip-hop that became a hallmark of the Odd Future universe.

As a solo artist, Hodgy has built a catalogue marked by dense wordplay, aggressive delivery, and a willingness to experiment with darker, more introspective material alongside party-oriented tracks. Songs like «Bullshittin’» and «99 Problems» reflect his versatility, moving between boastful street rap and more personal, moody compositions. Though he has never reached the mainstream visibility of some former Odd Future peers, Hodgy remains a respected figure for helping shape the collective's early identity and for his consistent output as an independent artist in the years since.
