Higher Brothers

Higher Brothers are a four-member Chinese rap group formed in Chengdu, made up of MaSiWei, DZ, Psy.P and Melo. They gained rapid international attention for blending Sichuanese-inflected Mandarin rap with a modern, internationally influenced trap and hip-hop sound, drawing on Western rap culture despite limited access to it within China.

The group broke through online with viral tracks such as «Made in China» and «Black Cab», which mixed sharp bilingual wordplay, brash humor and hard-hitting trap production, quickly earning them a cult following both domestically and abroad. Their music, including songs like «Flo Rida», «WeChat» and «One Punch Man», reflects a distinctly online, meme-savvy sensibility combined with genuine technical rap ability, helping position them as figureheads of China's emerging hip-hop scene.

Higher Brothers signed to 88rising, the label and media collective known for championing Asian and Asian-diaspora artists, which helped introduce them to Western hip-hop audiences and led to collaborations and tours alongside other 88rising acts. Their rise is widely seen as a landmark moment for Chinese-language rap gaining visibility on the global hip-hop stage.
