Heijan

Heijan, born Doğan Tarda in Van, Turkey, in 1994, is a Turkish rapper known for a raw, street-oriented style rooted in the Bağcılar district of Istanbul, where he has lived for much of his career. He built his name through underground releases before breaking into wider popularity, and his stage name plays on a contrast between the word «hei» (a casual greeting) and «jan», meaning poison.

His 2017 collaboration with Musti, «Yansın Geceler», became a turning point that brought him mainstream attention within Turkish rap, alongside earlier tracks such as «Semt Oturuşu» and «Abin Dızo Bremın». His music is associated with the gritty, confrontational strand of Turkish hip-hop that emerged from Istanbul's outer districts, drawing on both local slang and international trap influences.

Beyond music, Heijan has also appeared on screen, including a role in the film Yolsuzlar Çetesi. His public profile has at times intersected with controversy, including a widely reported detention as part of a narcotics investigation in 2017, which added to the outlaw image already present in his music and persona.
