HBK Gang

HBK Gang, short for The Heart Break Gang (also read as Heart Broke Kids), is a hip hop collective and independent label from Berkeley in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. Formed in the late 2000s around producer and rapper IAMSU!, the crew grew into a loose roster of rappers and singers who traded verses, hooks, and beats across each other's projects, becoming one of the defining sounds of the Bay Area's post-hyphy, mob-music era.

Musically HBK Gang favored bouncy, synth-heavy club production, laid-back melodic flows, and a party-first attitude that updated hyphy energy for the 2010s streaming era. The crew's momentum peaked with the 2013 mixtape «Gang Forever» and its breakout single «Never Going Broke», which helped push the collective beyond the Bay Area underground and into wider West Coast recognition.

Several members went on to notable solo careers, most prominently IAMSU! as a rapper and in-demand producer, Sage The Gemini with his run of national hits, and Kehlani, who became a major R&B star. Even as members pursued individual paths, HBK Gang remained an important node in Bay Area hip hop, known for its collaborative, family-like approach to building careers together.
