Hail Mary Mallon

Hail Mary Mallon is an American hip-hop group formed by rappers Aesop Rock and Rob Sonic together with producer/DJ Big Wiz. The trio's members had already built reputations in the underground hip-hop scene, notably through their association with the Definitive Jux label, before joining forces as a dedicated group after years of touring and collaborating together.

The group's name is a reference to Mary Mallon, better known as «Typhoid Mary», the early-20th-century cook linked to a typhoid outbreak in New York — a nod to the group's dense, wordplay-heavy and often darkly humorous lyrical style. Songs like «Kiln», «Krill», and «Jonathan» showcase Aesop Rock's famously intricate, abstract wordplay alongside Rob Sonic's gritty delivery, all set against Big Wiz's atmospheric, experimental production.
