About the artist
Genetikk is a German hip-hop duo from Saarbrücken consisting of rapper Karuzo (formerly Kappa) and producer Sikk, who grew up together and started making music as teenagers. The pair emerged from a larger crew before settling as a duo, releasing a demo tape and their debut album «Voodoozirkus», which earned them a deal with Selfmade Records.
Their breakthrough came with the 2013 studio album «D.N.A.», which topped the German charts and later went gold, selling over 100,000 units. The record fused oldschool-inspired samples with modern trap-influenced drums, helping define a darker, bass-heavy strain of German rap that influenced a generation of artists.
Genetikk built a reputation for tightly produced, atmospheric beats paired with Karuzo's technical, aggressive delivery. Songs like «Liebs oder lass es», «Yes Sir» and «König der Lügner» became staples of German rap radio and streaming playlists, cementing the duo as one of the country's most respected acts of the 2010s.
