Gary Allan

Gary Allan, born Gary Allan Herzberg on December 5, 1967, is an American country artist known for blending traditional honky-tonk instrumentation with a rock-influenced edge. Signed to Decca Records (later MCA Nashville), he made his debut in 1996 with «Her Man», the lead single from his gold-certified album Used Heart for Sale, establishing an early reputation as a neo-traditionalist with a rougher, more introspective streak than much of contemporary Nashville radio.

His commercial breakthrough came with Smoke Rings in the Dark (1999), his first platinum record, followed by further platinum successes with Alright Guy and See If I Care. Allan's catalog is marked by emotionally raw songwriting, often exploring loss and heartbreak, most notably following the death of his wife in 2004, which shaped the tone of subsequent releases including Tough All Over.

Across his career he has placed 26 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, with number-one hits including «Man to Man», «Tough Little Boys», and «Every Storm (Runs Out of Rain)».
