FUAT

Fuat is a German-Turkish rapper born in Berlin in 1972 who spent part of his childhood and teenage years in Turkey before returning to Berlin in the late 1980s. He is regarded as one of the pioneers of Turkish-language rap in Germany, having written his first English raps in the early 1990s before switching to Turkish, a language he felt let him express himself more directly. His debut album «Hassickdir?» became an underground reference point for the diaspora hip-hop scene.

Fuat's style blends street-level storytelling with sharp social and political commentary, often addressing identity, migration, and life between two cultures. His delivery is blunt and confrontational, closer to boom-bap and gangsta rap aesthetics than to the more pop-leaning Turkish rap that emerged later. Tracks like «İllegal (Rap Emrimde 2)» and «Bu Ne Cüret» reflect this uncompromising tone.

Over a long career he has remained a respected, semi-underground figure rather than a mainstream chart act, influencing later generations of Turkish and Kurdish rappers in Germany and Turkey. He has also worked with turntablists and DJs, as heard in tracks credited with cuts from collaborators, reinforcing his ties to classic hip-hop culture rather than trend-driven pop-rap.
