Fredo Bang

Fredo Bang, born Fredrick Dewon Thomas Givens II, is a rapper from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, active in music since 2014, whose career has been closely intertwined with a turbulent legal history. He was arrested in 2016 in connection with a shooting and faced serious charges before eventually accepting a plea deal, and it was during his time behind bars that he began building his catalogue, including his debut mixtape 2 Face Bang.

That project contained Oouuh, the breakthrough track that put him on the map upon his release in 2018. In the years that followed he moved quickly, releasing multiple projects including Big Ape, which featured collaborations with artists such as NLE Choppa, Moneybagg Yo and Tee Grizzley, as well as a compilation of unreleased material titled Lost Files. His guest verse on YNW Melly's Ingredients further widened his audience beyond Louisiana.

Musically, Fredo Bang works in an aggressive, melodic strain of Southern rap, pairing blunt, autobiographical lyrics about street violence and survival with hooks built for radio and streaming alike. Tracks like Top, iPhone 6, Kill Ya and Trust Issues showcase his ability to balance menace with hooks, making him one of Baton Rouge's most prominent rap exports of his generation.
