Flatland Cavalry

Flatland Cavalry is an Americana and country band that formed in Lubbock, Texas, growing out of the songwriting of vocalist Cleto Cordero, who founded the group with drummer Jason Albers while both attended Texas Tech University. Their sound draws on the West Texas singer-songwriter tradition associated with the region, blending warm, narrative country songwriting with touches of folk and fiddle-driven Americana.

The band built a following through the Texas and Red Dirt country scene, releasing the EP «Come May» in 2015 before their full-length debut, «Humble Folks», in 2016, which established their reputation for lyrical, place-rooted songwriting on tracks like «Sleeping Alone» and «Goodbye Kiss». They followed with «Homeland Insecurity» in 2019, continuing to develop a sound centered on Cordero's evocative storytelling and the band's tight interplay of guitar and fiddle.

Over time the group's lineup evolved, including a change of fiddle players, while retaining the songwriting-forward, road-tested character shaped by years of touring through the regional Texas circuit. Flatland Cavalry remains closely associated with the broader Texas country and Americana scene, valued for grounding contemporary country songwriting in vivid, personal storytelling.
