Flatbush Zombies

Flatbush Zombies are an American hip-hop trio from the Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, made up of Erick the Architect, Meechy Darko, and Zombie Juice. Formed in 2010 around producer and rapper Erick the Architect, the group built its identity on dense, psychedelic production and lyrics exploring altered states of consciousness, mental health, mortality, and social commentary, setting them apart from more mainstream East Coast rap of the period.

The trio gained early attention through free mixtapes released independently online, including «D.R.U.G.S.» and the widely praised «BetterOffDEAD», which built a dedicated underground fanbase well before any major-label involvement. Their sound blends boom-bap foundations with hazy, layered, often unsettling production, frequently self-produced by Erick the Architect, giving the group a distinct sonic identity within New York hip-hop.

Flatbush Zombies are closely associated with the Beast Coast collective, alongside Pro Era and The Underachievers, reflecting a broader early-2010s Brooklyn hip-hop scene rooted in collaboration and independent release strategies. Over multiple mixtapes and studio albums, the group has maintained a reputation for dark humor, vivid imagery, and uncompromising, unconventional production choices.
