About the artist
Faris Shafi is a Pakistani rapper and actor widely regarded as one of the pioneers of hip-hop in Pakistan. Coming from a prominent artistic family — he is the son of actress Saba Hameed and brother of musician Meesha Shafi — he built his own path in a genre that had little established footing in the country when he began.
Rapping across Urdu, Punjabi, and English, Shafi is known for lyrics that move fluidly between the deeply personal and the sharply political, tackling social hypocrisy, class, and identity with a confrontational, unfiltered style. Tracks such as «Muskura», «Waasta», and «Jawab De» showcase his dense wordplay and willingness to address subjects many mainstream Pakistani artists avoid.
