Ensi

Ensi, stage name of Jari Vella, is an Italian rapper born in 1985 near Turin. His name plays on the assonance with «MC» and references the Sumerian title for a city-state's ruler. He began his career in the early 2000s as part of the trio OneMic alongside his older brother Raige and producer-rapper Rayden, releasing albums that helped shape the Italian underground rap scene of the period, while also becoming known individually as one of Italy's top freestylers on the battle circuit.

Ensi launched his solo career in 2008 with the album «Vendetta» while OneMic was still active, and signed with the label Tanta Roba in 2012, the same year he won the first edition of MTV Spit, a freestyle-battle television program. His solo work built on technical, wordplay-driven rap rooted in battle culture, later broadening into more melodic, radio-friendly territory as his profile grew within Italian mainstream rap and pop-rap.

Over the years Ensi has balanced sharp lyrical rap with more accessible, hook-driven singles, reflecting the wider evolution of Italian hip-hop toward pop crossover. He remains a respected figure for his technical skill and battle-rap pedigree, as well as for his role in the OneMic crew's legacy within Italy's rap history.
