Đen, real name Nguyễn Đức Cường, born May 13, 1989 in Quảng Ninh, Vietnam, is one of the most prominent rappers to emerge from the Vietnamese underground hip hop scene. Known by the fuller stage name Đen Vâu, he built his reputation through introspective, socially grounded lyrics delivered in a calm, conversational flow that blends rap with folk-influenced melody. His breakthrough hits «Đưa Nhau Đi Trốn» and «Anh Đếch Cần Gì Nhiều Ngoài Em» brought underground Vietnamese rap to mainstream audiences and helped redefine what commercial success could look like for the genre.

Đen's songwriting frequently draws on everyday Vietnamese life, nostalgia, and quiet introspection rather than the flashier tropes common in mainstream hip hop, giving his catalog a distinctly grounded, poetic quality.
