Eko Fresh

Eko Fresh, born Ekrem Bora on September 3, 1983 in Cologne, Germany, is one of the pioneers of German-language rap and a rapper of Turkish descent. He began releasing music in the early 2000s, quickly becoming known for his rapid-fire delivery, technical wordplay and willingness to tackle themes of identity, migration and street life in Germany. Over a career spanning more than two decades he has released a huge volume of material, including numerous mixtapes in his long-running «Bars» series.

His sound sits at the intersection of classic boom-bap influenced German Rap and more modern trap-adjacent production, and he has never been afraid to experiment with Pop and Electronic textures on guest features. He runs his own independent label, German Dream, through which he has released much of his later work and supported other artists.

Eko Fresh is also known outside music as an actor and television personality, which has helped cement his status as a recognizable figure in German pop culture. Tracks like «Quotentürke» and «Türkish Nightmare» reflect his recurring exploration of dual identity, while entries in his «Bars» series showcase his technical rap skills and longevity in the German hip-hop scene.
