DVRST

DVRST is the alias of Valeriy Zaytsev, a Russian producer born in 2003 in Krymsk, who became one of the defining names of drift phonk. His 2021 track «Close Eyes» exploded on social media and is widely credited with pushing the aggressive, drum-heavy phonk subgenre from a niche Memphis-rap offshoot into a global phenomenon, especially popular as a soundtrack for car and drift edits.

His work sits at the intersection of phonk, electronic, and rap production, built around cowbell-driven drums, distorted 808s, and hooky vocal chops. Beyond «Close Eyes», he built a catalog of tracks including «Still Breathing» and «Dream Space» that helped cement the drift-phonk sound as a recognizable aesthetic worldwide.

DVRST also crossed into mainstream media placements, contributing music connected to the Fast & Furious franchise and remixing Soviet-era singer Igor Sklyar's «Комарово» into «Komarovo (DVRST Phonk Remix)», which became an unofficial anthem tied to the video game Atomic Heart and charted heavily across Russian-speaking countries.
