Duvy

Duvy, born Tafari Minott in 2002, is a Canadian rapper from the Jane and Finch neighborhood of Toronto, Ontario, an area also known in local rap culture as Connections. He emerged as one of the more distinctive voices in the Toronto street rap scene, associated with the Connection Bloods and its NH$ subset, and built a following on the strength of a melodic, tonally shifting delivery that set him apart from more straightforward drill-adjacent peers.

His breakout moment came with his second album, «Grasswayz», released in 2022, which helped cement his reputation beyond Toronto's underground and brought wider attention to songs such as «Clear the Spot», «Shlime Talk» and «NightmareZ» — tracks that showcased his knack for hooks and vocal texture layered over hard-edged street narratives.

Duvy's career was abruptly interrupted in 2023 when he was charged in connection with a 2022 murder in Toronto. In late 2024 he pleaded guilty to manslaughter alongside a co-defendant and was sentenced to six years in prison, cutting short a run that had positioned him as one of the city's rising rap talents.
