Dr. Dre

Dr. Dre, born Andre Romelle Young on February 18, 1965, in Compton, California, is widely regarded as one of the most influential producers in hip-hop history. He began as a DJ before joining the World Class Wreckin' Cru, and his career-defining moment came as a founding member of N.W.A alongside Ice Cube, Eazy-E, MC Ren, and DJ Yella, whose 1988 album Straight Outta Compton helped launch gangsta rap into the mainstream and established Dre as a producer with a distinct, hard-hitting sound.

After leaving N.W.A, Dre co-founded Death Row Records and released his solo debut The Chronic in 1992, which pioneered the G-funk sound built on heavy basslines, whining synthesizers, and P-Funk samples, reshaping West Coast hip-hop and helping launch the career of Snoop Dogg. He later founded Aftermath Entertainment, where his ear for talent proved just as important as his production — he signed and developed Eminem and later 50 Cent, and his mentorship extended to Kendrick Lamar and The Game, cementing his role as a career-making figure across multiple generations of rap.

Dre's catalog as a producer runs through some of hip-hop's most important records, from «Nuthin' but a G Thang» to «Forgot About Dre» and «The Next Episode.» Beyond music, he became a major entrepreneur through Beats Electronics, later sold to Apple, extending his influence well beyond the studio.
