About the artist
Doc Gynéco, born Bruno Beausir on 7 July 1974 in Paris, is one of the defining voices of French rap's golden era in the mid-1990s. He emerged from the Ministère A.M.E.R. and Secteur Ä circle before breaking out as a solo artist with a sound that leaned closer to smooth, soul- and funk-inflected pop-rap than the harder street rap dominating the scene at the time.
His 1996 debut album, «Première Consultation», became an instant classic, blending laid-back grooves with witty, provocative, often autobiographical lyrics on tracks like «Nirvana» and «Viens voir le docteur». The record's crossover appeal helped bring rap to a mainstream French audience that had previously kept it at arm's length, and songs such as «Vanessa» and «Ma salope à moi» became fixtures of French pop culture.
Beyond music, Doc Gynéco became a fixture of French television and media, known for outspoken and often controversial public statements that kept him in the spotlight well beyond his musical output. His blend of chanson-influenced melody, gentle rap flow, and irreverent humor set him apart from his peers and left a lasting mark on the sound of French rap.
