DJ Shocca

DJ Shocca, stage name of Matteo Bernacchi, is an Italian producer and turntablist from Treviso, widely regarded as one of the key architects of modern Italian rap production. He began in the mid-1990s with the group Centro 13 alongside rappers Mistaman, Ciacca and Frank Siciliano, releasing early demos before the group's studio album «Acciaio» and eventual split. He is also known as the co-founder, alongside Stokka, of the Unlimited Struggle collective and label, which became an influential home for underground Italian hip-hop.

His 2004 producer album «60 Hz» is considered a landmark record in Italian rap, showcasing his heavy, sample-driven, boom-bap-rooted sound and cementing his reputation as one of the country's most respected beatmakers. In 2008 he co-founded the turntablism collective Once Were Warriorz with Mr. Phil, DJ Double S and Bassi Maestro, further deepening his ties to Italy's scratch and DJ culture, and in 2010 he released the collaborative album «Musica che non si tocca» with Bassi Maestro.

Over a career spanning three decades, DJ Shocca has continued releasing music and collaborating widely, including the 2014 EP «Struggle Radio» with Stokka & MadBuddy and the 2022 album «4 Mani» with Inoki. His sound — dense, sample-heavy production paired with technical scratch work — has made him a defining figure in Italian hip-hop's underground and boom-bap traditions.
