DJ Chose

DJ Chose, born Norman Payne, is a producer, songwriter and DJ from Brookshire, Texas, a small town outside Houston. He began his career working with the group Brook Gang, whose song «Pop That» gave him an early taste of Billboard success. To build club exposure for his production work, he started DJing, which brought him into the orbit of Houston scene veterans like OG Ron C, DJ Mr. Rogers and DJ Michael «5000» Watts, deepening his ties to the city's chopped-and-screwed and rap traditions.

Those connections opened doors on the artist and songwriting side of his career, including a publishing deal with Mike Caren's Artist Publishing Group and collaborations with Akon, Trey Songz, Plies and YoungBoy Never Broke Again. His production and writing credits include YoungBoy Never Broke Again's RIAA Platinum single «No Smoke» and Kevin Gates' RIAA Platinum album «Islah», which also featured his work on the RIAA Gold single «Time 4 That».

As a performing artist, DJ Chose is known for tracks like «THICK» and its remix, along with «Stand Behind Her» and «Trying», blending Southern rap and R&B with a Houston-rooted sensibility. He continues to split his focus between his own artist output and behind-the-scenes production and songwriting work.
