DIVINE

DIVINE, born Vivian Fernandes, is an Indian rapper from Mumbai widely regarded as one of the founding figures of the country's hip-hop movement. Raised in the JB Nagar slum, he started out as an underground artist in the early 2010s, drawing early inspiration from Western rap icons like 50 Cent, Eminem and Tupac before developing his own style rooted in Hindi and Mumbai street slang.

He broke into the mainstream with «Yeh Mera Bombay» and, crucially, his collaboration with fellow Mumbai rapper Naezy on «Mere Gully Mein», a track that became an anthem for India's gully rap scene and later inspired the Bollywood film Gully Boy. Solo hits like «Jungli Sher» and «Farak» cemented his reputation, and frequent collaborations with producer Nucleya helped push his sound into the national spotlight.

Signed to Sony Music, DIVINE has continued to release socially conscious and street-rooted tracks such as «Kohinoor» and «Azadi», balancing raw lyricism with polished production. He is widely credited with legitimizing Indian hip-hop as a mainstream genre and paving the way for a new generation of Indian rappers.
