About the artist
Diggy, born Daniel Dwayne Simmons III in Queens, New York, in 1995, is a rapper, singer and actor who grew up in the public eye as the son of Run-DMC's Rev Run, appearing alongside his family on the MTV reality show Run's House. He launched his music career in his teens with the 2009 mixtape The First Flight, which led to a deal with Atlantic Records.
Diggy's sound sits at the intersection of pop-leaning rap and R&B, marked by melodic hooks, youthful energy and polished, radio-ready production. His 2012 debut album Unexpected Arrival produced his highest-charting single, «Do It Like You», and songs like «Copy, Paste» and «My Girl» further showcased his knack for catchy, feel-good tracks aimed at a young audience. He built early buzz through guest features with artists such as Jacob Latimore, Dionne Bromfield and Mindless Behavior, and was named to XXL's Freshman Class as well as the All City Chess Club collective.
Beyond music, Diggy has pursued acting and modeling, broadening his profile past his early recording career. His accolades include BET's YoungStars Award and an NAACP Outstanding New Artist honor, both from 2012, recognizing his rapid rise as a young multi-hyphenate talent from a famous hip-hop family.
