Devlin

Devlin is an English rapper from Dagenham, in east London, who emerged from the capital’s grime and UK hip-hop scenes in the late 2000s with a dense, rapid-fire lyrical style built on internal rhymes and personal storytelling. He came up as part of the grime collective O.T Crew and later as a member of The Movement alongside Wretch 32, Scorcher, and Ghetts, a lineup that helped define a generation of UK MCs before pursuing solo careers.

Signed to Island Records, Devlin built his reputation on freestyle showcases like «Fire in the Booth» and mixtape cuts before moving into more polished single and album releases, pairing grime’s lyrical density with beats that ranged toward electronic and pop production as his career progressed. His willingness to tackle mainstream instrumentals, including a widely noted reworking of «(All Along The) Watchtower», sat alongside sharper, more combative tracks aimed at rivals and at social commentary from his own upbringing.
