Desiigner

Desiigner is an American rapper from Brooklyn, New York, who rose to prominence with his breakout single «Panda», a chart-topping hit that caught the attention of Kanye West and led to him being signed to G.O.O.D. Music in 2016. His ad-lib-heavy, hazy trap style, heavily influenced by Chicago drill and delivered in a distinctive raspy, high-energy voice, became one of the most imitated sounds in mainstream rap that year.

His debut mixtape New English, released in 2016, compiled early singles including «Panda» and «Zombie Walk», while a viral XXL Freshman freestyle further boosted his profile and led to another hit, «Tiimmy Turner». Desiigner's sound is defined less by lyrical complexity than by atmosphere, repetition, and vocal texture, a formula that proved hugely influential on the sound of mid-2010s trap and drill-adjacent rap.

After releasing the L.O.D. EP, Desiigner eventually parted ways with G.O.O.D. Music, publicly reflecting on his time signed to Kanye West's label. Though his commercial peak came early with «Panda», he remains a notable figure for popularizing a specific vocal and production style that echoed across rap in the years that followed.
