About the artist
Delta Rae is an American band formed around 2009 in Durham, North Carolina, built on the songwriting and harmonies of siblings Ian, Eric, and Brittany Hölljes alongside longtime friend Liz Hopkins, later rounded out by Mike McKee on drums and Grant Emerson on bass. Their sound blends Southern Gothic storytelling with gospel-tinged harmonies and roots-rock instrumentation, drawing on Americana, folk, and country traditions.
The band broke through with their 2012 debut album «Carry the Fire», anchored by the hit «Bottom of the River», which showcased their signature stomp-and-holler energy and multi-part vocal arrangements. Critics praised the record's blend of blue-eyed soul and Americana rock, and the group went on to perform on late-night television and major festival stages including Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza. They followed up with «After It All» in 2015, further establishing their reputation for dramatic, narrative-driven songwriting.
Over the years Delta Rae has continued to release music independently, maintaining a devoted fanbase drawn to their theatrical live shows and tightly woven family harmonies. Songs like «Dance in the Graveyards» and «I Will Never Die» reflect their affinity for dark, folkloric imagery set against uplifting, communal choruses, placing them at the intersection of country, rock, and gospel music.
