Dargen D'Amico

Dargen D'Amico, stage name of Jacopo D'Amico, born November 29, 1980 in Milan, is one of the pioneers of Italian rap and a distinctive voice in Italian pop crossover. He first entered the scene in the early 1990s under the alias Corvo D'Argento, later forming the trio Sacre Scuole alongside Guè Pequeno and Jake la Furia, with whom he released «3 MC's Al Cubo» in 1999.

After stepping away from music for a few years, Dargen launched his solo career in earnest with the 2006 debut album «Musica Senza Musicisti», released on Giada Mesi, the label he founded with Frankie Gaudesi. His follow-up, «Di Vizi di Forma Virtù», was a sprawling thirty-five track project, unusual in scope for Italian rap at the time.

Dargen is known for witty, wordplay-heavy lyrics and a sound that blends hip-hop with electronic and pop textures, including hip-house collaborations like «La Cassa Spinge». His later work, including songs such as «Onda Alta» and «Ama Noi», leaned further into pop songwriting while retaining his rap roots, making him one of the more genre-fluid figures to emerge from the Milanese hip-hop scene.
