Danny Brown

Danny Brown, born Daniel Dewan Sewell, is a rapper from the Dexter-Linwood neighborhood of Detroit known for his unconventional, genre-blurring approach to hip-hop. He is celebrated for his wildly versatile vocal delivery, shifting between a gritty low register and a manic, high-pitched squawk, a style he developed most notably around his breakthrough mixtape XXX, which earned him the nickname «The Hybrid».

After years of independently released mixtapes, including the Detroit State of Mind series and Hot Soup, Brown built a reputation as one of underground rap's most inventive voices, pairing explicit, darkly funny storytelling about drugs and street life with experimental, often electronic-tinged production.
