Dan Seals

Dan Seals was an American singer-songwriter who became one of country music's most consistent hitmakers of the 1980s. Before his solo country career, he was one half of the pop duo England Dan & John Ford Coley, known for soft-rock hits like «I'd Really Love to See You Tonight».

Reinventing himself as a solo country artist in the 1980s, Seals scored a long run of chart-topping singles, including «Bop», «Meet Me in Montana» (with Marie Osmond), «God Must Be a Cowboy», and «Everything That Glitters (Is Not Gold)». His voice combined a warm, easy tenor with the melodic sensibility he'd honed in pop music, giving his country records a smoother, more radio-friendly edge than much of the genre at the time.

Songs like «One Friend», «Saw You in My Dreams», and «Game of Love» further cemented his reputation as a dependable purveyor of heartfelt, mid-tempo country-pop. He remains a respected transitional figure who helped bridge the soft-rock sound of the 1970s with the polished country of the following decade.
