About the artist
Cozz, born Cody Osagie, is an American rapper from South Central Los Angeles, California, signed to J. Cole’s Dreamville Records. He caught the label’s attention with his song «Dreams», which led directly to his signing and positioned him as one of the imprint’s earliest artists outside of Cole himself.
Raised in South Central after moving there as a child, Cozz built his catalog around vivid, street-level storytelling paired with sharp technical rapping, drawing comparisons to West Coast forebears while carving his own lane within Dreamville’s roster. His self-released project «Cozz & Effect» established his voice before signing, and the follow-up «Nothing Personal» further showcased his growth as a lyricist balancing hustle narratives with introspection, as heard on tracks like «Knock tha Hustle» and «Hustla’s Story».
As part of the Dreamville camp, Cozz has been associated with the label’s collaborative culture, contributing to the collective identity that helped define Dreamville’s rise in the late 2010s while maintaining his own distinct, LA-rooted perspective.
