Conway the Machine is an American rapper from Buffalo, New York, and a founding member of Griselda Records alongside his half-brother Westside Gunn and their cousin Benny the Butcher. Emerging from the wave of gritty, boom-bap-influenced street rap that Griselda came to define in the 2010s, Conway built a reputation for dense, technical wordplay delivered over dusty, soul-sampled production, often from producers like Daringer and The Alchemist.
His voice and delivery are unmistakably shaped by a 2012 shooting that left him with facial paralysis from Bell's palsy, giving his rapping a distinctive slurred cadence that he has embraced as part of his artistic identity rather than hidden.
