Columbine

Columbine is a French rap collective from Rennes, formed in the mid-2010s around a core of young MCs and producers including Lujipeka, Foda C, Sully, Chaman, Chaps, Sacha, Yro and Larry Garcia. The group built a distinctive identity by mixing playful, almost childlike melodies with lyrics that swing between absurd humor and raw emotional honesty, tackling loneliness, adolescence, love and sex with an unpolished, diaristic tone that set them apart from more polished mainstream French rap.

Their debut album Clubbing for Columbine (2016) established this eclectic, youthful sound, while Enfants terribles (2017) marked a shift toward darker, more introspective themes like depression and isolation without losing the group's melodic instincts. Adieu bientôt (2018) pushed further into maturity, reflecting the members' personal growth and hinting at the more individualized paths several of them, especially Lujipeka, would later pursue as solo artists.

Columbine occupies a singular place in the French rap landscape as a genuinely collective, almost workshop-like project rather than a crew built around a single star, and their early work remains a reference point for a wave of French rap that blended cloud-rap textures with confessional songwriting.
