Cody Jinks

Cody Jinks is an American country singer-songwriter from the Fort Worth/Denton area of Texas, known for a dry, weathered baritone often compared to Waylon Jennings. He started out playing country guitar taught by his father, then spent his teenage years fronting a heavy metal band, Unchecked Aggression, before returning to country music in the mid-2000s. That detour left a mark: his songwriting carries a rock-honed intensity alongside traditional honky-tonk and outlaw country instincts.

After early records made in a more conventional Nashville mold, Jinks found his voice by taking creative control of his own career, self-releasing and independently building a devoted fanbase largely outside the mainstream country industry. Albums like Adobe Sessions, I'm Not the Devil, and Lifers established him as a leading figure in the outlaw and Red Dirt country scenes, with songs marked by plainspoken, personal lyrics about hard living, faith, and resilience.

He tours and records with his longtime backing band, the Tone Deaf Hippies, and has built one of independent country music's most loyal followings through relentless touring and a DIY approach that predates his commercial breakthroughs. His catalog spans stripped-down acoustic material and full-band, rock-inflected outlaw country.
