CL is a South Korean singer, rapper, and songwriter best known as the leader of the girl group 2NE1, one of the defining acts of K-pop's global expansion in the 2010s. Born in Seoul and raised partly in France and Japan, she brought an international perspective to her music from the start, and within 2NE1 she stood out for her assertive rap delivery and bold visual style, helping establish the group's tough, fashion-forward image on hits and album cuts alike.

After 2NE1 disbanded, CL pursued a solo career aimed partly at the American market, collaborating with artists such as Skrillex and Diplo and releasing English-language singles including «Lifted» and «Hello Bitches».
