Chinx

Chinx, born Lionel Pickens, was an American rapper from Far Rockaway, Queens, New York, associated with the Coke Boys collective led by French Montana. He rose through the streets and mixtape circuit as a protégé of the late Stack Bundles, building a reputation for gritty, hustler-focused street rap delivered with a laid-back but menacing flow. Tracks like «Dope House» and «I'm A Coke Boy (Remix)» became staples of the early-2010s New York mixtape scene.

His music sat at the intersection of raw drug-dealing narratives and the more polished, radio-adjacent sound French Montana's camp was cultivating, giving him crossover appeal beyond strictly underground audiences. Songs such as «On Your Body» and «Feelings» showed a willingness to work with R&B-inflected hooks and pop sensibilities, while cuts like «Bodies» and «Thug Love» stayed closer to his street rap roots.

Chinx was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting in Queens on May 17, 2015, at the age of 31, cutting short a career that was gaining national momentum through his Coke Boys affiliation. His nickname, originally a reference to his eyes, was later reinterpreted by him as an acronym reflecting a hardened outlook shaped by incarceration. He remains remembered as a defining voice of Queens street rap in the era just before his death.
