Chilla

Chilla, born Maréva Ranarivelo in 1994, is a French-Swiss rapper and singer of Malagasy and French descent, raised in Lyon in a musical family — she trained on violin at the conservatory before turning to rap. She gained attention through a televised talent showcase and an appearance on Bigflo & Oli's Planète Rap for their debut album, which caught the attention of producer Tefa, who became a key figure in launching her career.

Signed to Capitol Music France, Chilla built a reputation for direct, socially engaged lyrics addressing themes like sexism, harassment, and personal struggle, most visibly on tracks such as «Sale chienne» and «Balance ton porc», which resonated amid broader conversations about violence against women. Her sound blends rap, R&B, and pop textures, often paired with sharp, confrontational songwriting that set her apart within French rap.

Her debut EP «Karma» arrived in 2017, followed by her first full album «MŪN», a seventeen-track project that expanded her range and consolidated support from established rappers like Kery James and Sofiane. Songs such as «Petit dealer» and «1er jour d'école» further showcased her storytelling approach, blending personal narrative with broader social commentary, establishing her as one of the notable voices to emerge from the French rap and pop scene in the late 2010s.
