Chiddy Bang

Chiddy Bang emerged in the late 2000s as a duo from Philadelphia formed by rapper Chidera «Chiddy» Anamege and producer Noah «Xaphoon Jones» Beresin, who met while both were students at Drexel University. The pair built an early following through blog-buzz mixtapes that mixed fast, playful rapping with a knack for flipping indie-rock and pop samples into hip-hop beats, a style that set them apart from their peers in the blog-rap era. Their breakout single «Opposite of Adults», built around a Sufjan Stevens sample, became a viral hit and helped establish their sound: upbeat, hook-driven, and unafraid to cross genre lines.

The group's momentum carried them to collaborations with artists like Mac Miller, Q-Tip and Black Thought, and to a deal that resulted in their sole studio album, «Breakfast», released in 2012. The record leaned into a polished, radio-friendly pop-rap sound while keeping Chiddy's rapid-fire delivery at its core. Not long after, Xaphoon Jones stepped away to focus on production work under a new name, effectively ending the original duo configuration.

Chiddy continued the project as a solo act under the same name, taking a hiatus before returning with new material later in the 2010s and again in the following decade. Across its history, Chiddy Bang's catalog reflects a restless, genre-blending approach — rap delivered with pop instincts and an ear for unexpected samples — that made the act a notable part of the blog-era hip-hop scene.
