Charlie Charles

Charlie Charles, born Paolo Alberto Monachetti in 1994 near Milan, is an Italian record producer who became one of the defining sonic architects of Italian trap and rap in the second half of the 2010s. He built his reputation producing entire debut albums for Sfera Ebbasta and Ghali, shaping the melodic, bass-heavy trap sound that came to dominate Italian urban music. Alongside Sick Luke, he is regarded as one of the genre's leading producers.

In 2017 he stepped out as a solo artist with the single «Bimbi», assembling a lineup of the scene's biggest names — Sfera Ebbasta, Ghali, Tedua, Izi and Rkomi — on a single track. A year later he co-founded the label BillionHeadz Music Group with Sfera Ebbasta and Shablo, and curated the artistic direction of Guè Pequeno's album Sinatra.

His biggest commercial breakthrough came in 2019, when he co-produced Mahmood's «Soldi» with Dardust, a song that won the Sanremo Festival and became an international hit. He followed it with «Calipso», reuniting Mahmood, Sfera Ebbasta and Dardust. Charlie Charles remains a central figure linking Italian trap's underground roots to its mainstream pop crossover.
