CENTR

CENTR is a Russian rap group from Moscow that became one of the defining acts of Russian-language hip-hop in the 2000s. Its core lineup brought together Guf, Slim, and Ptaha, three MCs who each had distinct styles but shared a taste for melancholic, streetwise storytelling over moody, melodic beats. The group's early records captured a mix of youthful bravado and reflective, sometimes bleak observations about life in Moscow, which resonated strongly with a generation of Russian rap fans.

Guf left the group in 2009, and Slim and Ptaha continued as a duo for a time before the group went on hiatus. CENTR reunited in 2014 after a five-year break, releasing new material and reconnecting with their audience, but internal creative disagreements and tension between members led to a final concert and an official breakup announced in April 2016.

Across their run, CENTR released albums including «Качели» (2007), «Эфир в норме» (2008), «Легенды Про… Centr» (2011), and «Система» (2016), tracing an arc from underground energy to more polished, introspective work. The group is remembered as a formative influence on Russian rap, with songs like «Город дорог» and «Легко ли быть молодым?» still cited as genre touchstones.
