CASISDEAD is a British rapper and producer from Tottenham, North London, an area that has produced several key figures in the grime and UK rap scenes, including Skepta, Wretch 32 and Chip. He first emerged in the mid-2000s under the aliases Castro and Castro Saint, releasing grime tracks and freestyles before disappearing from public view. He resurfaced around 2012 under the name CASISDEAD, a moniker that plays on his earlier vanishing act, and has since cultivated a famously mysterious public persona, avoiding interviews and photographs and letting the music speak for itself.

His debut album, «The Number 23», was released digitally in December 2014 and helped establish his reputation, built on darkly comic, densely wordy lyricism paired with cinematic, often eerie production. Tracks such as «Leon Best», «Play» and «All Hallows» — including work with Detroit producer Danny Brown's collaborator SKYWLKR — showcase a sound that blends grime and hip-hop with unconventional, atmospheric beats and a dry, deadpan sense of humour running through the verses.

His profile grew substantially through guest appearances, notably multiple features on Giggs' 2016 album ‘Landlord’, as well as collaborations with artists like Jme and Professor Green. Despite maintaining near-total anonymity, CASISDEAD has become a cult figure in UK rap, respected for his lyrical density and willingness to take creative risks that set him apart from more commercially oriented peers.
